The Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO) was established in July 2011 in Morogoro. It was founded by a group of 40 undergraduate and post graduate students and academic staff from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness (DAEA) at the Sokoine University of Agriculture. SUGECO is registered under the Tanzania Cooperative Act No. 20 of (2003). Currently SUGECO has over 600 members throughout Tanzania and is engaged in various agribusiness entrepreneurial activities. The main goal of SUGECO is to make a difference in the minds of youth, communities and graduates from higher learning institutions in support of enterprise development for self-employment, agribusiness development, job creation, community development, and economic prosperity. SUGECO’s programs consist of training in entrepreneurship, business ecosystem and network development, and business start-up support through internships, business incubation services and access to capital, land and technology and human resource development.
Our vision is to create future generations of successful businesspersons who transform our culture to value entrepreneurship and to support the development of a vibrant private economy.
Our mission is to prepare, enable and support knowledge-intensive, innovative entrepreneurs as they build successful businesses along agricultural and agribusiness value chains throughout Tanzania.
