Improving Youth lives with Training

Said Abdallah Salim is a youth at SUGECO Incubation Center (SIC) who is engaging in the production of fruit seedlings Said discovered the opportunity after attending the training program provided by SUGECO in 2018 named “Enhancing Youth Agribusiness Skills and Employability in Tanzania, focused on Commercial Nursery Establishment of Trees, Fruit Trees, and Vegetable Seedlings” in collaboration with Skills Development Fund (SDF). It is then he requested the space at SUGECO so that he can put his idea into practice and make money out of it.

SUGECO provided him with a working space, irrigation facility, technical backstopping and he is now producing different seedlings including passion, peach, mango, lemon, avocado, orange, and soursop (stafeli). It is through root stocking, grafting, and budding he has managed to produce more than 100,000 seedlings.

“Through the training, I attended at SUGECO focused on “Enhancing Youth Agribusiness Skills and Employability in Tanzania, focused on Commercial Nursery Establishment of Trees, Fruit Trees, and Vegetable Seedlings” I am now making money by selling seedlings. I have been able to employ myself and it has improved my standard of living” Said  Abdallah Salim Said

Not only did SUGECO gave me this place to conduct these activities but SUGECO is also linking me with markets. Therefore I can say SUGECO itself is the market for my seedlings. Iam getting an opportunity to participate in exhibitions and selling the seedlings, and also people who are visiting SUGECO visit us and learn what we are doing.

“I encourage youth to participate in whatever opportunity happens for youth so that they can benefit like me. He added
